My Story Behind Hail Damage
A few years ago, there was a huge hail storm where I live. My car was completely damaged. And I knew it was going to cost a lot to repair it.
After I spoke to the insurance companies, they said they would write me a check for $2,000 and I could take it to anyone to get it repaired.
So I started Google to see who would repair it for the lowest cost.
If you didn’t know, a simple hail damage repair can cost $3000 to $4,000.
After hours and hours of researching, I found a guy that said he would do it for $500 and I could keep the rest of the $1,500.
Of course I loved that idea but I didn’t know if this guy was for real or not. But either way, I wanted to give it a try and see.
He came over to my house and in a matter of a few hours he finished repairing it and my car looked just as new. He has all the tools to repair hail damaged cars just like the “professionals” do.
So this got me really interested. How is this guy doing this for so cheap and making a living? I started to pick his brain.
He told me everything, how he got the kit for a really cheap price on Amazon and he watched YouTube video and learned how to do it within 10-15 minutes. He told me that he was repairing 3-4 cars per week and make over $7,000 per month.
So I had to give this a try, I went on amazon and found the kit for around $60-80 and I bought it. Then on my other car I made fake dents (don’t try to do this to your own car, please) and tried to repair these dents. And it worked. Next thing you know, I went around my neighborhood and started repairing some of my neighbors hail damaged cars and in one week I made almost $2,000. I was so surprised.

For me to practice, I made some dents in my other car. Now I do not recommend that you do this. (Please don’t do this) But if you have friends or family who have dents in their car already, offer to fix it (or at least try to fix it) for FREE. This way, you will get some practice before you start charging money for it.

Look around the neighborhood
The first place to look for customers is around the neighborhood. Of course, this helps if you had a hail storm that just came by. But it doesn’t have to be your neighborhood. If a few cities away from you got a storm and you know people will have hail damaged cars there, you can go there.
Parking Lot
The next place to find customers is in the parking lot. Print out some flyers and put them on the windshield of cars that have been hail damaged.
Step 2: Offer your price
If a person is to get their hail damaged car repaired at a professional body shop they will pay anywhere from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. And just like me, they are trying to save money while getting the job done correctly. So offer them a price that makes them happy cause they are saving money but also doesn’t make you look like a cheap inexperienced person.
Step 3: Be available
When my friend took his car to the body shop for it to be fixed, it took them over 2 weeks for them to fix it. (Really, it’s only a few hour job)
So for a few weeks, he didn’t have a car and he has to Uber everywhere. This is the case for most people.
If you want to stick out from the professional competition, be available. If you can, do same-day repairs.
Step 4: Turn it into a business
Our goal on this website is to teach you to start a side hustle or a business. So we are not going to tell you to repair hail damaged cars forever. You need to be thinking about how to turn it into a business.
After you do a certain amount of jobs, you are going to start getting booked. So you will not be available all the time and you will turn into those professional body shops taking 2-3 weeks to get around to one customer. So what do you do? You hire people and teach them how to do it. And before you know it, you will be managing a team of people instead of fixing hail dents on cars.
That’s how you turn this into a side hustle or business.

Please keep in mind that this is like a seasonal kind of way to make making money. It doesn’t hail all year long in one area. (Of course, if you start going to different areas at different times of the year, you can do it year-long) But you can repair any kind of dents after you learn with the PDR kit.
